MBBR technology consist of polyethylene carriers serving as a base for growth of the biological film comprising of bacteria.
Each individual biocarrier provides a surface area to support the growth of bacteria within its cells. It is this high-density population of bacteria that achieves high-rate biodegradation within the system, while also offering process reliability and ease of operation.
These carriers have a density slightly lower than that of raw water which makes them freely rotate in the raw water. This motion is obtained with the help of aeration in the reactor.
